This interview series provides a window into the variety of strategies and funds that are thriving. As the industry has grown and matured, specialized managers have emerged to provide liquidity to these investment managers by buying minority interests in their businesses. In this interview, Todd Owens explains his company’s strategy to do just that, and how he expects to generate strong returns in the process.

Todd G. Owens is a partner at Cantilever Capital LP. He has over 25 years of experience as a leading investment banker covering financial institutions and as a senior financial services executive. Prior to his current position, Todd served as the Chief Executive Officer of Fifth Street Finance Corp, a publicly traded, specialty finance company with over $3 billion in assets. Prior to Fifth Street, Mr. Owens spent over 20 years in investment banking at Goldman Sachs & Co, where he was a Partner and served both as Head of the West Coast Financial Institutions Group and Head of the Specialty Finance Group. Mr. Owens has deep transactional experience across multiple industries, including specialty finance, asset management and banking. Mr. Owens received his B.A. degree in History and Political Economy from Williams College.
