FAQ

What is Beyond Wall Street?

Beyond Wall Street (BWS) is a series of interviews with innovators in the fields of alternative investing and finance. In addition, host Jan Brzeski will interview thought leaders on topics that are "table stakes" for our society to function successfully. For example, Jan plans to dive into the issue of homelessness and how we can better address this crisis, with various experts and policymakers.

Where will BWS be distributed?

The interviews will be available on the BWS website, via social media, and as audio-only podcasts.

How often will new episodes come out?

Currently BWS is targeting approximately two new episodes every month.

Why is Arixa sponsoring BWS and other educational programs?

Education has been a core part of Arixa's DNA since Jan started the business in 2006. He started teaching at UCLA Extension around that time, and Arixa has organized a real estate investment panel discussion at UCLA every year since then (other than during COVID-19).

What is the goal of BWS interviews?

Each interview is meant to be like an initial meeting between the viewer and the guest speaker. The viewer should get to know the guest’s background and some details about his or her area of expertise.

What questions are covered in each interview?

Questions vary but usually include the following: the guest’s career path; company and current investment strategy; some detailed questions about that strategy; the guest’s favorite thing about his or her area of focus; and some discussion of risks involved.

How can the interviews help investors to be more successful?

The interviews can help investors discover niche strategies and fund managers that they likely haven’t heard about before; and they can act as a sort of “early warning” system to detect risks before most other investors know about them.

How can BWS interviews act as an “early warning system” for investors?

Every economic shock is different from those that came before. Consider the bursting of the first Internet bubble around 2000; the Great Financial Crisis of 2007/2008; and the Covid-induced recession of early 2020. Each started in a different area. BWS aims to interview experts with great visibility into a variety of niche vertical markets, and one or more of those interviews will unearth valuable insights for the viewer. Each of us may have detailed knowledge of one or two parts of the economy, but with BWS that insight can grow to cover many niche markets--leading to a better chance of learning of the next great opportunity or the next risk to be avoided.
